Relay for Life

Every year, Geneseo participates in Relay for Life to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Relay for Life is a student-run, 24-hour event with fun activities, food, performances, and speakers, with proceeds benefitting cancer research and services for cancer patients.

Last year, Geneseo was the American Cancer Society's top relay fundraiser in all of New York and one of the top 25 relay fundraising efforts in the country. Our Sigma Kappa team is consistently a top contributor, raising over $17,800 last year, and &17,458 the year before.

A Walk to End Alzheimer's

One of Sigma Kappa's national philanthropies is Alzheimer's disease. To help support this cause, we participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s every Fall, which benefits the Alzheimer's Association. This year, our chapter raised over $7,000 for the cause.

Dog chew toy event with Delta Phi Epsilon to donate to Scottsville Animal Shelter

It's no secret that our sisters are  big animal-lovers, so we decided to put together a dog chew toy event to donate to the local animal shelter. Sam Bautista, our IGC Representative and Panhellenic Delegate, organized the event with Delta Phi Epsilon, and we encouraged SUNY Geneseo students to donate old t-shirts and join us in making the chew toys in Bailey Hall. We had a great turn out and the Scottsville Animal Shelter was so thankful for all the donations.
